Portugal international Gonçalo Guedes has completed a permanent move to Real Sociedad from Wolverhampton Wanderers for an initial €4m, potentially rising to €6m with add-ons, Crown88 reports.
The 28-year-old signed a three-year deal in San Sebastián, joining the third Spanish club of his career. After five seasons at Valencia, he moved to Wolves in 2022 and impressed on loan at Villarreal in the second half of 2023–24, earning another look at Molineux. However, he did not convince Vítor Pereira. While Wolves fans are puzzled by the low fee for a player who cost over €32m three years ago, Sky Sports says the club wanted his high wages off the books and the player was set on returning to La Liga—where he previously shone with Valencia—Crown88 adds.
At his presentation, Guedes said he was joining a possession-minded, ambitious team and outlined his brief: be offensive, score, assist, and attack space. He noted he didn’t fully adapt in England and hopes to rediscover his best level quickly in Spain, given his familiarity with the league, country, and language—commitments he vowed to honor on and off the pitch, Crown88 notes.
