Premier League Awards: Fantastic Fernandes, Dorgie Best!

Honouring the best — and the not-so-best — from the weekend’s Premier League action, featuring Mateus Fernandes, Patrick Dorgu, and Virgil van Dijk. Full build-up and fan takes on crown88.

Moment of the Week

What a seven days for Manchester United and Michael Carrick.
Beating City could’ve been dismissed as new-manager bounce, but a 3–2 comeback at Arsenal felt bigger: United became the first team to win at the Emirates this season and blew the title race wide open. A late rocket from Matheus Cunha sealed United’s first league win at Arsenal since 2017.

Player of the Week

Whatever happens to West Ham, Mateus Fernandes looks a gem. In the win over Sunderland, the 21-year-old ran the show: 100% ground duels won (7/7), a game-high 5 tackles, just one misplaced long pass (of nine), and a screamer to top it off. A complete midfield display.

Goal of the Week

No one has thrived under Carrick more than Patrick Dorgu. Shifted higher up the pitch, he followed his derby strike against City with an outrageous hit versus Arsenal — the kind of goal that loops on highlight reels for weeks.

Save of the Week

Lewis Miley looked certain to score, until Emi Martínez flung himself across goal at full stretch. On his 200th Premier League appearance, the Villa keeper kept a clean sheet and helped secure their first win at Newcastle in 21 years.

Stat of the Week

Liam Rosenior called Estêvão a “special talent” — and the numbers agree. At 18y 276d, he’s the youngest Chelsea player since Neil Shipperley (1993) to both score and assist in a Premier League match. Star boy status confirmed.

A Week to Forget for…

Virgil van Dijk. The Liverpool captain misread a long ball for Bournemouth’s opener and played Alex Jimenez onside for the second. He’s not solely to blame for the Reds’ defensive wobble, but missing out on Marc Guéhi last summer has forced Liverpool to squeeze every minute from a leader nearing 35 — and it’s showing.

More reactions, numbers, and clips rolling on crown88.
