Manchester United loanee Radek Vitek is already turning heads at his new club.
A confusing summer
The Czech goalkeeper impressed on loan at FC Blau-Weiß Linz in last season’s Austrian Bundesliga. When André Onana suffered a pre-season injury, some thought Vitek might get a shot to stake his claim as United’s No. 1 during the U.S. tour. Instead, speculation linked him with another Austrian move to Sturm Graz, while Millwall were also mentioned, before he ultimately sealed a loan to Bristol City late last month.
Impressive debut
The 21-year-old debuted over the weekend in a pre-season win against Real Valladolid—and made an immediate impact. Vitek kept a clean sheet in the 4–0 victory and produced a standout first-half moment by saving Marcos André’s penalty, instantly endearing himself to fans at Ashton Gate.
Bristol City manager Gerhard Struber, speaking to Bristol Live, praised both the club’s goalkeeping setup and Vitek’s unique qualities: “We have a great goalkeeping coaching team working at a very high level… Radek gives us, in this area, a slightly different strength. I’m very excited to have him here, and today he showed in many moments how important he can be for this team.”
United supporters will be watching closely as Vitek tests himself in one of the game’s most competitive environments.
